Mr. Doug O'Dell

Hello everyone and thank you so much for the warm welcome back home! I am a 1987 graduate of Wellborn High School and my wife, Martha, finished in 1980. I have two children, Logan and Lauren. Logan graduated from Wellborn in 2009 and is married to Candice and has two sons. Lauren graduated from Alexandria, is married to Evan Davis and resides near Huntsville. I came here as an Assistant Principal in 2001 and became Principal in 2004 and stayed until 2013. I ran transportation for a year and then went to Alexandria High as Assistant Principal for 9 years. I am glad to be back with my Wellborn kids!  

Mrs. Julie Opdycke

Hello! I am so excited about being the assistant principal at Wellborn Elementary School! 

I am originally from Cherokee County, AL but currently live in Southside, AL. I am married to Chad Opdycke and have 4 wonderful bonus kids. I love spending time with my family, being outside, and traveling. I graduated from Jacksonville State University with my bachelors degree in 2014 and with my graduate degree in Instructional Leadership in 2022. I began my teaching career at Saks Elementary School, where I was a Pre-K teacher, 1st grade teacher, and reading specialist. I also served as an Instructional Partner at Alexandria High School. 

I am very passionate about my career. I have a servant leadership style. I believe I am here to serve and do what I can to make Wellborn Elementary School and the community the best that it can be.
